North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple gathered with state officials and students, to discuss the importance of helping kids choose healthy foods and get active every day. According to Dalrymple, “[kids] time in school is not just about academic learning…but also a place to nurture and support young people..including their health and a healthy lifestyle.” Dalrymple applauded the North Dakota schools for staying active in Fuel Up to Play 60 and working with teachers, administrators, cafeteria staff and health education/PE teachers to implement healthy changes like offering breakfast smoothies, hosting walking clubs and bringing healthier lunch options to the cafeterias. Midwest Dairy Council has provided $30,000 in funds and rewards to help make these initiatives happen.
“Together, we can make significant headway helping all of our North Dakota youth lead healthier lives, encouraging them to eat healthy, get active and make a difference,” Dalrymple said.
