Today marks the one year anniversary of MyPlate, an initiative started by First Lady Michelle Obama and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). To celebrate this anniversary, Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Kathleen Merrigan joined with the Dairy Council of Florida and Fuel Up to Play 60 representatives to create a fun event for local officials, parents, children and partners in Orlando, Florida.

MyPlate has struck more than 6,000 such partnerships with small businesses and community organizations in the past year to help reach the public with information on meaningful, sustainable, healthy dietary changes based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Public acceptance of MyPlate over the last year suggests that the icon will be a popular and useful image to encourage healthy eating for years to come.
